Well, up until March of 2008 I was aware of, but ignoring, the extra pounds as they piled on around my belly, butt, and legs. I was taking the blood pressure pills faithfully, but that is the only thing I was doing to help my health and only because my doctor told me too. My wife and I decided we would take the boys to Disney World in Summer 09, so I made a decision. I was going to lose 152 pounds by the time of the trip. I was at the point where a 15 minute trip to the grocery store was KILLING my back and knees. I jumped into the fitness plan with both feet. I joined a local gym. I met with a trainer and he put me on the right track nutritionally. I started eating six small meals/snacks a day and went from taking in 5000-6000 calories a day to 2400. I was working out 4 days a week at least and loving it. Of course, I was sore at first, but man did I feel good. I lost about 50 pounds by September and then started just maintaining. I was at a major plateau. I should have cut my calories down to 2000 at that point, but I didn't, I just kept at the same routine. I would lose 5 gain 3, lose 4 gain 5. The holidays were looming, but I was enjoying watching the Biggest Loser for the first time and really PULLING for Michelle to win. At this point I've survived the holidays, but due to a brief illness and other non-excusable excuses, I haven't worked out in 3 weeks. I'm going back to the gym and going to weigh in for the first time in 3 or 4 weeks and I'm a bit afraid of what the scale will say. BUT, and coming from me that is a big BUTT! (LOL), I'm not going to beat myself up for any weight I've put back on the last few weeks. I'm going to get back on the treadmill, the elliptical, and the weights and get going in the right direction. I KNOW I can do it and it looks like we may have moved our Disney plans up from August to March so even though I won't be at my goal weight, I could reasonably expect to be down 100 pounds and feeling good. Good luck to everyone in 2009 and as long as you're moving in the right direction you are succeeding. If you have a setback then come on here and I or someone else will be supportive and encouraging---YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
