Hey there everyone!
So, I started reading Bob's Are You Ready! book. I am not very far into it (I really need to set more time aside for my reading) but so far I am loving it. The first section is all about what Bob calls your Inner Compass. Basically, he says that you have to take care of yourself, your emotions, and discover why you made those poor choices in the past BEFORE you can even start on the physical parts of this journey like eating right and exercising. You have to to realize what your baggage is, confront it, and move on. You have to accept where you are right now, and forgive yourself. You have to look at yourself full on and say, "This is where I am now. But I am going to do something about it." Then, you have to forgive yourself for all those poor choices and letting things go this far. And you just have to move on. You have to love yourself, be good to yourself, take care of yourself. Discover things that you like about yourself and focus on them. Use them as a mantra to switch things from negative to positive whenever you are feeling self doubt. The final step of your Inner Compass is about changing your internal tape recorder. What are your inner thoughts about yourself? Are they negative? Are you being too hard on yourself? This step helps you step back and take a good look at that. You wouldn't let someone else talk to you that way, so why do you let yourself? Negative thoughts feed our emotions and can lead to emotional eating. When you get those feelings, don't react, STOP, and sit with them, think about them. Then, maybe you can understand them better and change what you do with them. That's about how far I am in the book now. It is very powerful reading. The next chapters go into eating plans, food journals, work out routines, etc. I'm very excited about finishing it. I LOVE Bob!
