I am the queen of trying to be creative with working out at home. First, simply go for a walk. If you can't go down the road, do what I did and walk the perimeter of your property. I live on three acres and found that I could walk the perimeter of our property five times in 30 minutes. If you can't afford to get some hand weights, go to your kitchen cabinets. You can find enough cans to equal the weight you are looking for. Put them in the bags you brought the groceries home in and then hold on to the handles. Or fill empty milk jugs with water to equal the weight you want. If you need a bench to do things such as presses on, use the edge of the bed, the couch, or your coffee table if it's tall and sturdy enough. If you have two floors to your house, walk up and down the stairs in place of a stairmaster. Just be sure to control going down the stairs instead of dropping down. Want some heavy duty weight training? Rearrange a room or two in your house or move those boxes that you haven't unpacked in years and go through them. Even basic repairs around the house can be used as cardio. Some of the less creative ways to workout at home would be DVDs. There are a lot that are inexpensive. An example would be the workout DVDs from The Biggest Loser can be ordered on Amazon for less than $10 each. I can tell you from personal experience that they are effective. Regardless of how much equipment or money you have, just get out there and get moving. If you sincerely put your mind to it, you will be able to get in a very effective workout.
