Here is an update on my mother:
I went to see her on Saturday and her doctor came in while I was there. He explained that it was common for this type of ulcer to make people throw up. They are giving her nutrients, meds, and fluids through a pick line while the ulcer heals. The only thing she takes by mouth is a medication that coats the lining of her stomach and intestine to protect the ulcer while it heals. She should be in the hopital until Wednesday or Thursday. She was feeling better by the time I got up there.
On the weight loss front, here are my mother's numbers: at the time of her surgery, she weighed 382 pounds (and she's 5'tall). On Friday, she weighed 291 pounds.
