Saturday here was such a beautiful day--temps in the 60's & 70's in July--what's up with that?? Anyway, I decided to go for my long run. Thought I would try to see just how far I could go. Setting out with a run/walk mentality, I ran for 4 minutes, walked for one around the track at the school close to my house. All was quiet, no one but me and my mp3 player on the track. It was a little boring, but I had my Garmin 305 to keep me company and watch during the run to check my pace, time, etc. I had G2 waiting for me after each lap if I needed it also. So around and around I went---53 laps. By that time I had decided to go for the half-marathon distance. Heading back to my neighborhood (potty break was in order!) I continued around my circle for 5,6 or 7 laps (lost count). The last laps were walking, but I completed the half-marathon distance in 3:16:20!!! I can live with that. I so want to do a real half, but couldn't imagine actually being able to do it. When I look up the finishing times on halfs, they range anywhere from 1hour to 4 hours. So I guess my time wasn't so bad. Anyway, I'm still feeling the effects of that run. Doing a lot of stretching, etc. And still wearing a grin and feeling a sense of accomplishment!
