When I joined this site, I listed two goals: 1. to weigh 145 lb and 2. To run a 5k this spring. Can I ever begin to describe this day?? To begin with, today was the day of my first 5K run. So when I woke up this morning and got on the scale, it said 144!!!! Whoo--hoo!!! Victory already. Then it was off to the run. The weather was BEAUTIFUL--chilly, but that is ok when you are going to run. It was small, about 65 participants. So I ran (and ran and ran) Finished in 38:29. Not too bad. I was hoping for under 40 minutes. And I was not the last to cross the line--my big fear. Anyway, when they gave out the awards---I won my division (60 & over). I guess there are some advantages to being old :) Ok, I have to confess--I was the only one in my division. (Don't old ladies run??) Anyway I have a trophy and one 5K under my belt. Oh yes, I almost forgot. The sweetest little 18-20 year old girl came up and wanted to shake my hand. She said "I want to be just like you when I grow up" How cool is that?? I have never owned a trophy or had the feeling that I have knowing I accomplished not one, but two of my goals on the same day!!!---Oh, now I need to set new goals.
