One more week!!!!
Posted by: JPars1334 on
Wow, here I am at the end of week 11. 8 miles tomorrow, 2 on Sunday and 2 easy runs next week as I rest and prepare for the race. I am SOOOOOO ready for it. Can't believe it's here already. The only concern I have is the weather. They are predicting 31 degrees the night before with flurries possible and a high of 49 on race day. That means that the start (7:30 a.m.) would probably be in the 30's--br-r-r-r-r-. Rain is predicted for the following day. So I guess I'll choose the cold as opposed to the rain!!!!! Geesh!! This weather thing is driving me crazy---how to dress??? Anyway, can you tell I'm a little antsy and anxious???
Hopefully once the race is done, I can get back to really losing weight!!! That is my plan anyway---10 lb before Thanksgiving. I can't face heading into the holidays pounds up!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!!
Week #9-Firs 10K Finished!!

Heading into week #9 of 12. Geesh!! It's hard to believe it's less than 4 weeks till the "Big Race" This time 4 weeks from now I'll be giving you guys a play by play of the race!
On Saturday I completed my first 10K. Not fast--Time of 1:20 (that's an hour and 20 minutes!!) Had hoped to finish in less than 1:15, but it didn't happen. I probably could have, but was hesitant to push too hard--wanted to be sure to finish!! Working on speed now trying to run a 12:30 mile for 13 miles on November 1!! My long run this week is 12 miles. Guess I'll see if I can do that. If I can do 12, surely I can do 13!
Just trying to maintain in the weight department and was successful this week. If I can do that till the race, I'll be thrilled. Then I can get back to some various exercise and maybe shock my body into losing.
Hope everyone had a great week and has another one!!
Week #8
Posted by: JPars1334 on
Wow, I can't believe I'm heading into week 8 or 12 in training for the half marathon. Tonight I meet with coach to work on speed. I'm sure it will be interesting. I ran 11 miles on Sunday. I'm beginning to believe I can actually run 13.1 even if it is slowly. Hey, my goal is to finish with few walk breaks. If my time is good, that will be icing on the cake.
My weight has stayed the same for this week--which is certainly better than gaining!!! So I have convinced myself that if I can maintain until after the race I will hit it hard and heavy after that. I'm also having a tooth pulled right after the race, so maybe that will help me lose weight as well :)
Seems like it's being hard for a lot of people. I wish we could come up with a plan to get this weight off!!! Seems like I need something new to jump start me. I will put my thinking cap on and see if I can come up with something to start about November 1 that can take us through the holidays without getting submarined!! Hard to believe the holidays are upon us!
Anxious to watch TBL tonight. Haven't picked a favorite yet. I like most of them so far. Hope we don't ever have another season like the Vicky/Heba one!!!
Hope everyone has a good week.
Week #6
Posted by: JPars1334 on
Well, I haven't posted in a while and you guys are so great to get after me!! I posted on the chat board my confession. I am up to 149.6 lb!!! Haven't been updating my weight hoping I could get it back off and wouldn't have to confess!!
I am hoping TBL show will motivate me!!
I'm on week #6 of my 12 week program!! It's been really hard, though with the running. I am on week #6 which consists of 26 miles of running (oops, I think I put 28 on the board). 6 today, 3 tomorrow and Thursday, 10 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. When I run I get sooo hungry. Plus I drink oj and usually eat a banana before I go out (200 cal) and drink chocolate milk-coach says to (200 cal) after I run. That's all before breakfast! Then when I run more than 4 miles, I have to take in sports drinks or other forms of nourishment along the way (more calories!!) Then after I run I am so hungry that I eat. With all that figured in, I am taking in even more calories than I burn. And that is another issue. I wear a Garmin GPS when I run to track my mileage, etc. For 3 miles it says I burn around 300 calories and my body bugg says I burn around 600---what to do??? I imagine it's somewhere in the middle??? Coach says that some people gain when they are in training for a big race. Wonder if they lose after the race :) I'll have to ask that question.
Anyway, I feel better to have confessed and am not being dishonest anymore. I am going to try to start weighing in only once a week and staying more on track. Guess I'm just gonna have to be a little hungry.
Last Saturday's run was hard and it was 9 miles. I'm wondering how I'll do 4 more in about the same amount of time :( Anyway, week 8 begins speed building so we'll see. I just have to trust the program just like I did the c25k and hopefully it will work out the same.
My goal is just to finish the half in less than 3 hours. If I do that, I will be a success (regardless of what I weigh!!!)
Thanks for listening and being concerned about me. I love all you guys!!!
